Executive PGP in Management Program 2014-15 Indian Institute of Management Indore |
Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management Program 2014-15
Indian Institute of Management
Indore
International Immersion at McCombs School of Business - The University of Texas at Austin
The Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) is an intensive one-year residential program of IIM Indore. Specially designed to enhance knowledge, skills and capabilities essential for managing and leading organizations, the programme combines skill building with exploration of good management practices. In addition to a comprehensive functional core module, there are elective courses aligned with the industry concentration identified for the programme such as Analytics, BFSI, e-Commerce etc.
The EPGP is designed keeping in mind the following value propositions :
- The courses should leverage the experience of the participants.
- The courses should be aligned with the industry concentration being identified for EPGP.
- The core courses should provide a general management perspective at an elevated pitch compared to the PGP program.
The EPGP is structured to prepare executives for transformational leadership positions. During the intense one-year programme, they will work towards developing a deeper understanding of various facets of management and hone their managerial skills. The programme is spread over five academic terms in IIM Indore campus and one International Immersion term abroad. The first three terms (mostly composed of core courses) focus on laying the foundation for the specialisation through a bundle of electives offered in the other terms. The last two terms are mostly electives and other experiential learning. An international module provides an opportunity to develop an understanding of the global business environment and an ability to operate in a multicultural environment.
EPGP consists of five segments, which are :
-
Orientation
The five-day orientation program enables the participants to
- transition from an executive to an executive PGP student
- brush up the basics and get familiar with the IIM-I method of learning
- understand the self and the peers while making the transition to the EPGP and the future.
-
Core Curriculum
IIM Indore's intensive cross-functional core curriculum covers traditional management disciplines - Economics, Accounting, Finance, General Management, Information Systems, Marketing, Operations Management, Quantitative Techniques, Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, and Strategic Management — as well as Ethics, and communication skills needed at senior levels of management.
Core courses akin to foundation courses in Management are aimed at building a robust general management perspective. This segment crystallizes and enhances participants’ basic conceptual and analytical knowledge for managerial and leadership effectiveness. The participants complete 48 or more credits of core courses spread over Terms I to VI. -
International Immersion
Five weeks long duration program in which the participants visit an international partner institute and do rigorous course work. Besides, earning credits in the areas of industry concentration, the participants also get exposed to the challenges of doing business in the host country environment.
-
Elective Courses
IIM Indore EPGP offers participants the flexibility to customize their study and help them to explore new and deeper areas of learning and reflect on and leverage the past experiences. Each participant gets an opportunity to choose from a list of electives that help build and strengthen the domain expertise in the pre defined industry concentrations. An advisory board comprising of senior executives from the identified practice areas and the EPGP system would identify relevant courses that would lead to domain expertise. Broadly, they can be: Contemporary, practitioner driven courses - mostly offered in terms five and six in areas such as Big data, cloud computing, social media analytics, health care models etc., which may enhance employment opportunities and some experiential based courses.
Roughly 16 credits are planned per term for six terms. -
Capstone
IIM Indore EPGP Capstone provides an opportunity to the participants to :
- integrate the learnings from the program
- reflect on their own experience as executives
- understand what it means to work in large multidisciplinary teams against tough deadlines
